In the past year, the Family Support Center here has provided almost $22,000 in emergency loans and grants from Air Force Assistance Fund, and another $1,500 in educational grants, according to the center’s director, Marcia Riley. She also noted that in 2004, more than $11,000 was provided for emergency assistance and community enhancement programs.
“Our base campaign runs until May so there is still time to contribute,” said Paul Finch, AFAF program coordinator for the 452nd AMW.
The AFAF was established to raise funds for the charitable affiliates that provide support to the Air Force family in need, including active duty, retirees, reservists, guard and their dependents, according to the AFAF’s website.
Of the four participating charities, three are available to the Reserve and Guard. The Air Force Village Foundation, the Air Force Aid Society and the Air Force Enlisted Village. These organizations help Air Force people with aid in an emergency, with educational needs, or to have a secure retirement home for widows or widowers of Air Force members in need of financial assistance.
