2/23/2010 - MARCH AIR RESERVE BASE, CALIF. -- Members of the Army Reserve Honor Guard practice their funeral detail at the Blue Eagles Total Force Honor Guard facility at March ARB, Feb. 12.

The Army Reserve has been training at March and with the Blue Eagles for the past six months, said Staff Sgt. Dana Mikles, honor guard duty non-commissioned officer in charge. He said there are several Soldiers who are already qualified to perform in details with the Blue Eagles.

The Army Reserve Honor Guard will normally cover for Army events, but when the Blue Eagles are short staffed, they will be able to look to the Army Reservists for help.

At the practice on the 12th, the Army Reserve Honor Guard had the opportunity to show off their new skills in front of their unit's leaders. The group opened ranks and performed a complete set of funeral honors, including pallbearing, folding the flag, color guard and firing squad.

"Out of 10, I give you a 15. You all did a great job," said 1st Lt. Pumphrey to the group after they finished. The Army Reserve Honor Guard performed in 1,300 events last year. This year, they've already performed in more than 200 events.
