Staff Sgt. Aja Smith, 50th Aerial Port Squadron, holds a luminary bag she decorated in memory of her grandfather, a chief master sergeant who retired after a 30-year career in the Army Air Corps and Air Force. Sergeant Smith said her grandfather was a World War II, Korea and Vietnam veteran. He was first diagnosed with cancer in the early 1980s and battled it until he passed away in 2007. Maj. Gen. Craig Collins retired Chief Master Sgt. Raymond Neubig in a ceremony at March ARB, April 10. Chief Neubig, who served in the Air Force and Air Force Reserve for 33 years, was the only remaining 701st Combat Operations Squadron member who was part of the squadron’s initial 1996 deployment to Korea.
