Tom Gillis, a contractor with Satellite Services, Inc., helps remove the engine on a Tunner 60K loader before replacing it with a new $40,000 engine. This is the first time since March has owned their Tunners that this procedure has ever taken place. It is a Detroit Diesel, 6 cylinders 350 HP, 5.3 Liter Engine weighing roughly 1700 lbs. Gillis, Fred Caluya, also a contractor, and Tech Sgt. Chan Sivon, an SSI trained reservist with the 452nd Logistics Readiness Squadron, worked for over a week to ensure the Tunner was operable and ready to work again and, in the process, gained some valuable training.
