FLYBY: F-18 tests final barrier

An F/A-18D Hornet from the Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station, Calif., conducted the initial certification of the south end retractable barrier at March Air Reserve Base, Calif. Sept. 28. The runway has a Type H90 retractable cable in place on both the north and south ends, thereby increasing safety measures for fighter pilots. The north end was completed and certified on July 7. (U.S. Air Force photo by Amy Abbott)
