Colonel Aaron J. Heick assumed command of the 452d Air Mobility Wing Maintenance Group here at March Air Reserve Base, California. Heick accepted command from Colonel James Hartle who held the position for two years.

"This has been a great command, and it's bittersweet for me," Hartle said. "This wing is like my family, but I know everyone will be in good hands with Aaron."

Heick is a 1996 graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Upon graduation from UCLA, he was sent to Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, where he filled several positions in the supply arena.  Subsequently, he served three years on the northern tier at Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota filling positions in fuels management and aircraft maintenance. Upon completion of his active duty commitment, Col. Heick transferred to the Air Force Reserve at March ARB, CA, where he filled numerous positions at both the wing and numbered air force levels. In 2014 Heick left the wing and was transferred to the 477th Fighter then in 2016 he was assigned to the 940th at Beale AFB.

"Returning to March is more of a homecoming than a new assignment," Heick said in his speech after accepting command of MXG. "It always feels good to come home."
