Introducing the 452 Maintenance Ops Squadron Rising Six

MARCH AIR RESERVE BASE, CALIF. --  Late in 2011, the 452d Maintenance Operations Squadron established a unit Rising Six organization. This group of dedicated entry- to mid-level Airmen took time out of their hectic schedules to put in place mechanisms that will ensure a successful career advancement for fellow wingmen.

The current officers of the MOS R6 are Staff Sgt. James Marquez, president; Tech. Sgt. Daniel Herring, A Unit Training Assembly vice president; Senior Airman Elizabeth Silva, B UTA VP; Staff Sgt. Robert Rurup, treasurer; Senior Airman Ruth Everly, A UTA secretary; and Senior Airman Javier Miller, B UTA secretary. Their organization has approximately 15 members.

Achieving timely promotions is a concern for all Airmen, which is why the MOS R6 offers classes on how to improve Airmen's overall "presentability." They offer a variety of workshops, such as speech classes to improve public speaking, a necessity when progressing in rank. In addition, they established a squadron physical training program on the UTAs to improve overall fitness and promote camaraderie.

The MOS R6 has a proud record of volunteerism. They were involved at the 2012 March Air Fest, served Thanksgiving dinner at the Salvation Army and helped out with March's first-ever Zombie run.

To gain a greater perspective on how the efforts of Team March sync's with the overall Big Blue [Air Force] mission, they routinely invite their superintendent, first sergeant and career advisor to conduct mentoring and question/answer sessions.

The MOS R6 holds meetings every UTA weekend and is always open to new or better ideas from fellow Airmen.
