Senior Master Sgt. Tammy Haro , 752nd Medical Squadron spoke to more than 600 elementary students about her service to country, during a Veteran’s Day ceremony, held at the Moreno Valley Elementary school, Nov. 8. “I felt blessed and honored to have the opportunity to represent the Air Force Reserve for a Veteran’s Day presentation at Moreno Valley Elementary school,” said Haro. “We shared the meaning and importance of this special day and how everyone is affected in one way or another by a Veteran. Children from kindergarten through the 5th grade were able to recognize their family members, teachers and faculty as Veterans and for the sacrifices they’ve made. I have always been proud to follow in my father’s footsteps and serve my country. Sharing, with all those students, the accomplishments afforded to me by the military and the meaning of being a Veteran made me grateful to wear the uniform with so many others.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Darnell Gardner)

Lt. CDR. Eric Cottrell , commanding officer, Navy Operational Support Center, Moreno Valley, Calif., was the featured speaker at the City of Moreno Valley’s Veterans Day Ceremony, held at the Moreno Valley Civic Center, Nov. 11. Cottrell delivered a speech that evoked mindful thought about the true meaning behind Veterans Day by stating, “America has set aside this day to recognize, honor and thank our nation’s veterans for their sacrifices in defending and preserving our freedoms. It isn’t about a day off, or a great sale at the mall. It is a solemn day; a day for reflection, for memories and for prayers-prayers for those lost and for those in harm’s way even today.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Lt. Col. Don Traud)
