Fini flight for OSS Deputy Commander Published June 21, 2012 By 452 AMW 452 AMW MARCH AIR RESERVE BASE, CALIF. -- Lt. Col. Mark Larson, deputy commander, 452d Operational Support Squadron, returns from a TDY in Denmark to a hose down from the fire department and 729th Airlift Squadron personnel, as he completed his final flight piloting the C-17 Globemaster III, June 11. The TDY to Denmark was especially meaningful for Larson because he and his wife's family are Danish. They've vacationed there before and he picked up some of the language. "I'm very happy to have been able to go to Denmark and practice my Danish, this was probably one of my better TDYs," said Larson. Larson is PCS'ing to McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., where he'll be the Commander of the 931st Air Refueling Group. Brig. Gen. Karl McGregor, 452d Air Mobility Wing commander, group commanders, friends and colleagues gathered outside the jet to welcome Larson home and congratulate him on his final flight from the base. He has been at March for 12 years and said he's going to miss flying the C-17 and working with folks at March Air Reserve Base. Larson will be going back to work with old friends, noting the bitter sweetness of the situation. Larson is currently re-qualifying on the KC-135 Lt. Col. Mark Larson and will leave March at the end of July.
