The 452d Air Mobility Wing Safety office is hosting the 2012 Motorcycle Safety Commanders Pre-season Briefing and group ride next week. Participants first will meet to receive the briefing before proceeding off base for a one and one-half to two hour group ride. Maximum participation is encouraged, so we ask that commanders and supervisors allow members to join in on the ride, mission requirement and workload permitting.

Team March riders must meet all requirements for riding a motorcycle by being fully trained, licensed, and registered. In addition, riders are required to wear mandatory personal protective equipment found in AFI91-207, the U.S. Air Force Traffic Safety Program. As a reminder, civilians must be on leave status to participate in the ride portion.

The USAF 101 Critical Days of Summer campaign has already kicked off to a bad start. There have been two motorcycle fatalities during the first week of the campaign, bringing the fiscal year total to eight.

Let's all redouble our efforts to ensure we are effectively managing our unit motorcycle safety programs by providing Basic Rider Course training to our riders who are just starting to ride and encouraging attendance of the one day BRC-2 refresher training every 2 years.

Please contact Ground Safety if you have any questions about the group briefing and ride.
