The March Inn management team recognized their staff March 2, at an Employee Appreciation Day breakfast. The staff works diligently performing many daily tasks. Breakfast was management's way to back up their verbal thanks with actions.

"Because the staff members don't always get the recognition they deserve, this was a way for us to show our appreciation for the hard work they do," said Jacqueline MacGowan, March Inn guest services manager.

Each of the 45 employees present had a choice of a breakfast burrito or bagel, sausage or bacon and a beverage of juice, water or coffee as well as cake for dessert. Many employees later thanked management for appreciating them.

"Everybody loved it!" said Pete Bereza, March Inn accounting technician. "It sustained me
through the rest of the day."

Because they are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, management provided pizza for their staff on night shift to make sure they received thanks as well, Bereza said.

In addition to showing appreciation to their staff, they also wanted to help their sister facility, the BackStreet Café. Weeks prior to the event, March Inn management spoke with Hap Arnold Club leadership and worked it out so that one of the cafe's cooks, Octavio Gomez-Magdaleno, would be on site to prepare breakfast-to-order for March Inn staff.

Because of the tremendous success of this event, they are looking forward to working with Club staff on future events. "It was definitely a motivator," MacGowan said. "We will continue to work toward success and progress."
