Spring is a time for renewal Published April 14, 2011 By Chaplain Ken Walden 452nd Military Airlift Wing MARCH AIR RESERVE BASE, Calif. -- Spring is here! Winter is gone and most of our country -- including California -- has had its fair share of snow, cold weather, rainy weather and storms. Spring is the season that brings us warmer temperatures, flowers blooming, birds singing and living organisms, such as butterflies, flying into existence. All four seasons are important, but spring symbolizes renewal. Webster's Dictionary defines renewal as "to make like new, to restore, or to start again." We have experienced renewal in almost every facet of our military, including equipment, uniforms, policies and organizational structures. Let us remember that internal renewal is just as important as external renewal. Sure, I can appreciate a new paint job on my car, but I am more concerned about what is going on with my engine. I encourage you to be receptive to both external and internal renewal within your personal lives. Personal renewal can occur when we are intentional about participating in life-giving activities, which can include religious activities. Now is as good a time as any to seek renewal...spring is here! Grace and Peace, Chaplain Ken Walden
