Between the series of rainstorms last week and the rain Tuesday and Wednesday, March Air Reserve Base received a whopping 5.7 inches of precipitation. This amount is over half of the base's annual average rainfall of 9.8 inches.

Chief weather forecaster Mark Ditter, who forecasts and collects information specifically for March Air Reserve Base, says that although March Air Reserve Base hasn't had this much rain in a while, it is not unusual for the region to see storms like this.

"We are in an El Nino year and, typically, in El Nino years we get a lot of rain," Ditter said.

February is the rainiest month of the year at March ARB with an average of 2.2 inches of rain. January receives an average of two inches of rain and March receives 1.6.

The weather forecast for the rest of the rainy season is unknown, since weather models are limited to a week ahead.
