The Salute To Veterans Parade Committee is pleased and honored to announce that Medal of Honor recipient - Colonel Lewis Millett, US Army (Retired) - has agreed to be the Grand Marshal for the 4th annual Salute To Veterans Parade scheduled for 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday April 18, in downtown Riverside.

Colonel Millett will lead a parade of over 100 units featuring marching bands, Junior ROTC cadets, active duty military, antique cars, antique and current military equipment, floats, aerial fly-overs and veterans. The parade's theme is "To Honor Veterans Of All Ages And All Eras". The parade begins at the Riverside Community College parking lot on Magnolia Avenue and ends near the historic Riverside County Courthouse on Main Street. Each veteran wishing to join the parade will receive a medallion inscribed with the words "I Served".

This year's Salute To Veterans Parade will be the first in the series to be led by a Grand Marshal. Colonel Millett was selected in recognition of his outstanding military career and his long service to local and national veterans' issues. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for leading a valiant bayonet charge during the Korean War.

Joining Colonel Millett in the parade and on the parade's reviewing stand will be a number of generals, officers and admirals from around the Inland Empire and Southern California. This year's bands include the North High School Blue Star Regiment Marching Band, the Marine Band from Miramar Naval Air Station, the Riverside Concert Band, the UC-Riverside Pipe Band and the Mt. Fife & Drum Corp from Lake Arrowhead.
