Holm becomes top manager Published Jan. 16, 2009 By Will Alexander 452 AMW Public Affairs MARCH AIR RESERVE BASE, CALIF. -- Helen Holm, lodging manager at March Inn, was recently honored as the 2008 Services Civilian Manager of the Year. The 452 MSG recognized Holm for her leadership and "exceptional financial oversight" of the Air Force Reserve Command's largest lodging operation, which grossed $3.6 million in 2008. "She's a phenomenal supervisor for the Services organization," said Iris Alexander, chief, 452 Services Flight. "She's one person who can step in and do anyone's job. I depend on her as backup, and as a professional leader in my absence." Last year, Holm secured $1 million in non-appropriated funds from Air Force Lodging to refurbish 52 rooms in two buildings and seven Gilley Houses; oversaw the completion of two roofing projects on historical lodging facilities; and developed a detailed five-year plan that helped March Inn keep pace with a changing industry and Air Force policy, according to the award citation. Alexander said Holm manages 33 buildings and well over 80 personnel in a "24/7" operation. "She's just an outstanding, superb individual, and a unique supervisor," said Alexander. Holm has 21 years of civilian Non-Appropriated Fund Service.
