March CGOC puts on 'Brat Burn' fundraiser Published Oct. 28, 2008 By Will Alexander 452 AMW Public Affairs MARCH AIR RESERVE BASE, CALIF. -- The March Company Grade Officers Council held a "Brat Burn Friday" in the MPF parking lot to raise money for its two year-old organization. The council exists to promote professional development, encourage base and local community service, and establish an environment to enhance camaraderie among company grade officers, according to March CGOC president Capt. Melisa Vines, 452 AMXS. "We have an untapped resource of company grade officers - the second and first lieutenants and the captains. There are hundreds of them on base," she said. "The biggest benefit of being a part of the council is the networking. I have now met people in different organizations that I can call to get immediate answers to my questions and immediate assistance. It's a very, very good way to initiate contact with other organizations on base." Capt. Vines said the March CGOC will help with set up at the Military Ball next month and will use proceeds from its fundraisers to buy dinners for some of the ball's designated drivers. For the first time in February, the council will play a role behind the scenes of the Annual Wing Awards Banquet. The organization also held a mixer at the Hap Arnold Club that gave officers an opportunity to get out of the office and network a bit. The council meets each month on both UTAs and is open to all officers assigned or attached to March ARB in a permanent or temporary duty status, regardless of service. For more information or to join the council, call Capt. Vines or 1st Lt. Linsey Rivas.
