The Navy Operational Support Center, Moreno Valley enjoyed a day of camaraderie among about 300 Sailors and their families and friends during the 10th Annual Family Readiness Day at the center.

Senior Chief Denny Conley, event organizer, said that having Sailors and their families meet one another lets them know they are a part of the extended Navy family.

Ombudsman Judy Dominguez, whose volunteer job is to extend outreach and support to reservists and their families, invited the families of Sailors currently mobilized in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. She made sure they were aware of the benefits and services available to them while their loved ones are away.

Commander Steven Hartsel, the Center's Commanding Officer, greeted the families, thanked them for their support, and welcomed them to their extended Navy family.

Commander Hartsel brought representatives from the Department of Veterans Affairs on board to explain VA benefits to the Sailors and their dependents, and enroll them in services which include education, health care and home loan guarantees.

Sailors, families, and friends enjoyed live music, raffles, prizes, and games, including a water slide, Ferris wheel, and lunch and dessert provided by local restaurants.
