Airmen from the 452nd Security Forces Squadron joined Air Force aircraft and other military memorabilia at the Flabob Airport in Rubidoux to celebrate Veteran's Day. This was the fifth year of the annual event and airport officials estimated it drew between 3,000 and 4,000 people.

Its main purpose is to celebrate and honor veterans, of all branches of service, for all wartime campaigns, peacetime service, as well as those who are currently serving.

"There is a veterans parade and a rather tear jerking formal ceremony, as well as multiple performances throughout the day from local bands and orchestras," said 1st Lt. Mary Guest, a pilot with the 336th Air Refueling Squadron, who was volunteering at the function with the San Gabriel Valley Ninety-Nines. The formal portion included speakers Ron Loveridge, mayor of Riverside, and Congressman Ken Calvert.

The event also stages vendors and community organizations who come out and set up booths, a car show, an air show and airplane rides which were offered to the public. There are multiple flybys throughout the day -- this year the highlight being the F-117 flyby.

"The security forces squadron really stepped up and did an awesome job," said Lieutenant Guest. "Hopefully in the future, March will be able to participate more, since it's a great opportunity for us to show our community support and involvement."

The 452nd SFS brought an ATV, flak equipment, a high mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle with a mounted M16 and had a hands-on demo set up. Volunteering from the squadron to spend their weekend representing the wing were Technical Sgts Corinius Hill and Sean Warman, Staff Sgt. Dwayne Moss and Senior Airman Frank Neiberger.
