Forty-seven Airman celebrated joining the ranks of the Non-Commissioned and Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Corps (NCO/SCNO) at the March Air Reserve Base Cultural Resource Center, Nov. 18. Master Sgt. Kevin Krebs provided the opening remarks to begin the ceremony which included a posting of the colors by March ARB’s Blue Eagles Honor Guard and was followed by a beautiful rendition of the national anthem, sung by Staff Sgt. Armando Flores. Chaplain Capt. Nelson offered the invocation and newly appointed 452nd AMW Vice-Commander Col. Thomas McNamara offered an insightful speech that included perspective on Air Force history, the significance of achieving NCO/SNCO status and the ever-evolving role that these vital assets play in completing our mission.

Colonel Matthew Burger, 452nd AMW Commander, was joined by Command Chief Cynthia Villa and McNamara as they individually recognized each newly promoted sergeant on stage, and presented them with a commemorative certificate and coin, then posed for ceremonial photographs. The NCO and SNCO groups raised their right hands and were dutifully administered their respective charges, with both groups then reciting the Airman’s Creed and all in attendance closing the event with a singing of the Air Force Song.

Afterwards, refreshments were provided in front of the theatre where honorees, their families and other invited guests gathered for group photographs and mingled with each other as well as with dignitaries from across the Wing and 4th Air Force.

Two of the newly minted NCO’s were Staff Sgt. Claudia Benson and Staff Sgt. Angelica Estrada, both from the 452 nd Commander’s Support Staff (CSS). Benson said that she has “a sincere appreciation for the historical significance of this rank”, with Estrada echoing the same sentiments and adding that she
“welcomes the additional responsibility inherent with NCO status”.
