Miss Riverside Coming to Southern California Air Show

MARCH AIR RESERVE BASE, CALIF. - March Air Reserve Base is gearing up to host the Southern California Air Show 2023 on April 22 and 23, 2023. The free public event promises to be a thrilling experience for aviation enthusiasts of all ages, and attendees will have the opportunity to witness some of the most advanced aircraft and aerial demonstrations.

This year's event will feature special guest Miss Riverside, Taylor Yamane, the winner of the Miss Riverside Scholarship Program. Miss Riverside will be attending the event, singing the national anthem on Saturday, April 22, 2023, and promoting women in science and aviation, as well as STEM programs.

Miss Riverside is an advocate for women in the aviation and science industries, and her attendance at the Southern California Air Show 2023 is expected to inspire young women to pursue careers in these fields. As a scholarship program winner, she understands the value of education and aims to motivate young people to pursue their dreams by emphasizing the importance of STEM programs.

Miss Yamane said, “My goal as Miss Riverside City is to give young girls the confidence to pursue their passions even if they are in male-dominated fields. I know how scary it can be to be a part of STEAM careers as a woman, and I want to be a role model and support system for our young students to show them that they can achieve whatever dreams they may have. I am so excited to be a part of the airshow and bring the Miss America Organization to the aviation world!”

In addition to Miss Riverside's appearance, the air show will feature the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds aerial demonstration team, the Canadian SkyHawks Parachute Team, and about a dozen civilian acts, including stunt planes and warbirds. Local food and beer vendors, as well as a Kid Zone, will be available for attendees to enjoy.

Gates will open at 8 a.m. and close at 5:30 p.m., with the show starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. Admission and parking are free, but attendees are encouraged to download a "find my car" app to help locate their vehicles in the large parking lot.
