Lt. CDR. Eric Cottrell , commanding officer, Navy Operational Support Center, Moreno Valley, Calif., was the featured speaker at the City of Moreno Valley’s Veterans Day Ceremony, held at the Moreno Valley Civic Center, Nov. 11. Cottrell delivered a speech that evoked mindful thought about the true meaning behind Veterans Day by stating, “America has set aside this day to recognize, honor and thank our nation’s veterans for their sacrifices in defending and preserving our freedoms. It isn’t about a day off, or a great sale at the mall. Staff Sgt. Dejon Fruga, 50th Aerial Port Squadron, temporarily assigned to 452d AMW Blue Eagle Total Force Honor Guard, sang the National Anthem at the Moreno Valley Delivery and Distribution Center for the United States Postal Service, during a special ceremony in recognition of Veterans Day, Nov. 8. “The entire event was well received. I was honored when they all rose and removed their hats to pay respect during my performance,” said Fruga. “They repeatedly thanked me for attending the ceremony and most importantly, for my service to country.
