NASA’s Super Guppy: Air and space power working together

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Super Guppy, shown parked on the March Air Reserve Base transit alert pad, Nov. 27, was tasked with transporting an enormous metal ring that will be used to test NASA’s Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle. The awkwardly shaped aircraft is specifically designed to carry oversized payloads and has been in service since August 1965. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Christine Jones)
