1st Lt. Jeremy Shields, pilot, 729th Airlift Squadron, March Air Reserve Base, Calif., takes a quick coffee break to reflect on the events that changed his life and the lives of two families, May 5, 2012. Shields and fellow crewmembers were on their way to dinner, after a transit mission to Germany, when they witnessed an auto collision involving a local mother with infant and another family. The March crew immediately rushed into action, applying basic first aid to the victims and securing the scene before emergency responders arrived. Thankfully, there were no fatalities during this unpleasant incident. (U.S. Air Force photo)
