Translocating March's burrowing owls

Dr. Jeffrey Lincer, Wildlife Research Institute, releases a burrowing owl into a temporary 'hack' cage Nov. 18, 2010, at March Air Reserve Base, Calif. The 452nd Environmental Flight built six alternate burrows in a more remote section of the base after a plans were finalized for the construction of an indoor firing range near the owls' nest.
