Dignified transfer

Team March members flooded Graeber Street to await the passing of the remains of Army Staff Sgt. Michael David P. Cardenaz of Corona, Calif., who was killed by a rocket propelled grenade while serving in Afghanistan. Sergeant Cardenaz’s family was on base to meet the plane carrying his remains. As the hearse passed, service members saluted and civilians placed their hands over their hearts. The Fire Department turned on their fire engines’ emergency lights. The family members in the long procession cried as they observed the support of the members of Team March paying respect to a Soldier they had likely never known.
