On Jan. 3, in conjunction with the support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the 452nd Aerial Port Support Flight and 50th / 56th Aerial Port Squadrons personnel assisted with the upload of ten pallets (15 short-tons) of much-needed medical supplies onto a C-17 from the 729th Airlift Squadron. The Denton cargo was headed for Andrews Air Force Base, Md., with a final destination at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan. The Denton program allows the Department of Defense to provide space available transportation of humanitarian cargo at little or no cost to the donor. This is accomplished by utilizing U.S. military transportation exclusively. Authority to transport the cargo comes from the Denton Amendment program which allows donors to use space available on military cargo planes to transport goods to countries in need.
