John King from Southern California Edison (right) presented a rebate check for over $1 million dollars to the 452nd Air Mobility Wing Commander, Brig. Gen. James Melin (left), for reducing power demand using a renewable energy source through SCE’s power generation rebate program at the official ribbon cutting ceremony June 7. At a cost of $4,600,000, it is the largest renewable energy system installed to date by the Air Force and will generate enough power to operate two facilities and back feed excess power to the March ARB grid. Annual energy savings are estimated at $213,214 with an additional savings of $38,382 for demand charges. The project was coordinated and implemented by the 452nd Civil Engineers.
