Medical technician performs laboratory test

Senior Airman Adrienne Stonum, a medical technician from the 452nd Aerospace Medicine Squadron, March Air Reserve Base, Calif., uses a microscope to check abnormal cells on a specimen at the medical laboratory clinic. Microscopic examinations are used to identify possible bacterial infections and cancerous cells. Laboratory technicians test and analyze specimens using scientific laboratory techniques to aid in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases.
