The Single Airman’s Program
The Single Airman’s Program sponsored a complimentary deep-sea fishing trip for March Field members, Sept. 22. A total of 24 participants met at 4 a.m. for the day’s journey with Helgren’s Sportfishing Tours and sailed just off the coast of San Diego, Calif., for some of the best mackerel and bass fishing in the region. The Single Airman’s Program is an initiative that provides Airmen with resources to foster a strong culture, mission and sense of community. A day at the beach turns into a life saving event
Staff Sgt. Gary Mathieson, 452nd Airlift Control Flight, was involved in a life-saving event during what was supposed to be a fun day at the beach. During Labor Day weekend, Mathieson rescued two inexperienced swimmers from certain injury after being overwhelmed by powerful waves that could have sent them crashing into the rocks which protruded from the beach front.
