State Assembly honoree
California Assemblyman Paul Cook, chair of the Assembly Committee on Veterans Affairs recently honored Lt. Col. Neil Kishi for his service at the Third Annual Veterans Recognition Luncheon in Sacramento. Each member of the committee selects an outstanding service member to recognize. Colonel Kishi, who lives in Moreno Valley, is part of Assemblyman Cook’s district. “As a pilot, Lt. Col. Kishi is a veteran to admire for his commitment to our country. He is a true representation of a service member who works to protect our country every day,” said Assemblyman Cook. Lt. Col. Kishi has served as mission commander for Operation Deep Freeze, as well as more than 30 combat missions. He is currently the Chief of Standards for the 729th Airlift Squadron. 40 YEARS OF CIVIL SERVICE
During the civilian commander’s call June 22, Col. Karl McGregor, 452nd Air Mobility Wing commander, presented Mr. Donald Combs with a pin and certificate honoring his 40 years of civil service. Combs enlisted in the Air Force in 1967 as a telephone cable splicer and served in Vietnam in 1968. He later entered civil service and has worked in the field of communications since. “We installed base telephone cables all over the world,” he said. In addition to the travel, Combs said he’s most enjoyed the people he’s been able to work with over the years. Combs is the chief of plans and programs at the 452nd Communications Squadron.
