AFRC’s top enlisted member visits March ARB
Air Force Reserve Command’s highest-ranking enlisted member, Chief Master Sgt. Troy McIntosh, speaks to a Rising Six meeting at the Education and Training Center, Sunday, during his March ARB visit. During the visit, he signed a mock-up of the new Rising Six logo. The chief said he was impressed by what he saw here and heard about what the Rising Six and the Top 3 were doing to keep communication lines open between leaders and junior enlisted members . An enlisted call was held in the Cultural Center where the Chief discussed a couple of the new priorities: partnering with the joint and coalition teams to win today’s fight, and developing and caring for Airmen and their families. Chief McIntosh also discussed the Air Force Reserve’s greatest claim to fame, balancing family and service to country, and he encouraged everyone to take charge of their own careers. AFSO21: MAKING THE DEPLOYMENT PROCESS MORE LEAN
Maj. Eddy Palacios (right) and members of the 452nd Air Mobility Wing AFSO21 team brief Col. Jeffrey Barnson, Vice Wing Commander, March Air Reserve Base, July 25, on the current state of deployment processing times for a single member at March ARB. The team wants to cut the time it takes for a member to deploy to four hours, according to its facilitator Lt. Col. Scipiaruth Kendall (left, standing). “There’s a lot of waiting for service,” she aid. “We’re talking about a traditional reservist taking time away from his job, being away from his or her family, and they have to out-process from the base, and it takes a long time. We want to cut out the non-value added time.” The team will brief Brig. Gen. James Melin at its Rapid Improvement Event in mid-October. (U.S. Air Force photo by Daniel Pilkington) What is AFSO21?: It stands for Air Force Smart Operations for the 21st Century and aims to build a culture of continuous process improvement to enhance combat effectiveness in the the Air Force.
