Leadership Riverside learns about March Field missions
The 2009 class of Leadership Riverside poses by a Predator static display during their tour of the base last Friday. Leadership Riverside increases participants’ knowledge of local governmental and institutional programs. The Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce has sponsored this program for 17 years. The year-long program informs participants about a wide range of subjects such as: local government, military and homeland security, culture and history, economic development, health, education, social services and recreation. The group visited the 144th Fighter Wing, 163rd Reconnaissance Wing, Defense Media Center, C-17 simulator, Air and Marine Operations Center, sat in an Army HUMVEE and learned how falcons keep birds away from the airfield. Thailand’s Air Force tours base
Lt. Col. Dave Bell, 336th Air Refueling Squadron pilot, explains tanker capabilities to senior leaders from Thailand’s Air Force this week. The group received a briefing on Air Force Reserve Command from Fourth Air Force then toured the base. Air Force Sergeants Association honors
The Air Force Sergeants Association Honors banquet in Fairfield, Calif., was highlighted by an unprecedented win by the 452d Air Mobility Wing nominees. Senior Airman Charles Elliott from the 452d Civil Engineering Squadron garnered the First Term Airman of the Year Award and by Technical Sgt. Allen Puckett from the 452d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron garnered the Junior NCO of the Year Award. “Miles of Change” breaks Guinness world record
452d Security Forces Squadron members support Think Together’s “Miles of Change” event recently held at the Fontana Speedway. The event had a two-fold purpose; the first was to recognize the centennial of the penny and the second was to break the current record of 42 miles of pennies layed out. The world record was broken with 65 miles worth of pennies and the feat will be in the Guinness Book of World Records. Those in attendance from the 452nd SFS were Maj. John McDowell, Technical Sgt. David House, Technical Sgt. William Stephens, Staff Sgt. Heather Baptiste, Staff Sgt. Giovanni Moscoso, Staff Sgt. Daniel White and Staff Sgt. Thomas Green. Think Together was founded as an organization to help kids who were struggling in school. It is an after school program that caters to students in Southern California. March Honor Guard trains Riverside National Cemetery Memorial Honor Guard
Senior Airman Kyle Platt, March ARB Honor Guard, coaches CMSgt. Hosea Taylor, USAF (Ret.) and a member of Team 38 of the Riverside National Cemetery Memorial Honor Detail on the finer points of flag folding during a recent training session at the cemetery. Congratulations to ALS Academy Graduates
SrA Scott Connary, 452 LRS, and SrA Angeline Santos, 752 MDS, graduated from Airman Leadership School (ALS) at Travis AFB on March 26. ALS is a 37-day course of instruction with an emphasis on combat expeditionary leadership and related skills. With a curriculum that involves the whole person, ALS focuses on leader/follower skills, the core values; a fair amount of physical education, including a fit to fight regiment. Congratulations to NCO Academy Graduates
Technical Sgt. Lorenzo Diaz (left), 50th Aerial Port Squadron, and Technical Sgt. Gilbert DeMara, 452 AMW (Chaplain’s Assistant) graduated from the I.G. Brown NCO Academy on April 1. The school is located at McGhee-Tyson ANGB, Knoxville, Tenn. Both completed an intensive six week course study in NCO development subjects, such as military professionalism, Air Force culture, combat leadership skills and physical fitness. Completion of the course is a requirement in order to be promoted to Master Sergeant; in addition, each participant earned 12 college credit hours toward their CCAF degree. (U.S. Air Force photo)

Congratulations to NCO Leadership Course Graduates
The noncommissioned Officer Leadership and Development Class graduation was held March 27. Over the course of two weeks, 21 class members learned about supervision, communication theory, management, leadership and how to handle stress in the workplace. All graduates will receive two hours credit for management and communication with the Community College of the Air Force.
