Original Tuskegee Airman Buford A. Johnson signs a poster for a woman during the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. Convention, San Antonio, Texas. TAI is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the accomplishments of African-Americans who participated in air and ground crew as well as operations support in the Army Corps during World War ll. Pilots who crashed in 1955 receive military honors
Chaplain 1st Lt. David Sarmiento gives a speech during a memorial service for T-33A pilots 1st Lts. Richard Theiler and Paul Smith. The fallen heroes crashed 55 years ago, but the wreckage was recently found in May 2009. This sparked the need to hold military honors for the crew members at Dockweiler State Beach and at sea, over 100 feet above the wreckage and three miles off the coast. Recent events at the March Field Museum: WAR DOG MEMORIAL
A veteran touches the War Dog memorial statue at the March Field Museum Feb. 13. The War Dog Memorial Fund hosted an event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the statue. Speakers included Congressman Ken Calvert and retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton. The sculptor of the War Dog memorial, Thomas Schomberg, attended the event.
