Retreat memorial ceremony reflects on fallen heroes
Some 500 members of the 452d Air Mobility Wing lined the front of the headquarters building for an early Memorial Day ceremony and wing commander’s call last Saturday. Memorial Day represents a time to remember and honor the untold sacrifices of those who have gone before us. It is also a time to remember that those who gave their lives in the defense of this country have left behind families. The freedoms America enjoys today have come at a cost, paid not only by those who died, but also by those who lived. A member of the honor guard played taps for the ceremony and, afterwards, retreat marked the end of the ceremony. (U.S. Air Force photo by MSgt Mike Blair)

Combat stress is "Rule Number Two"
The deputy coordinator for U.S. Navy Combat Stress Control program, Dr. Heidi Kraft, signs one of her books, Rule Number Two, for a member of the 752d Medical Squadron. Dr. Kraft, a former naval psychologist with a Marine Corps surgical company, wrote the book specifically for military medical personnel who are having problems dealing with combat operational stress. When Lieutenant Commander Heidi Kraft’s twin son and daughter were fifteen months old, she was deployed to Iraq. A clinical psychologist in the U.S. Navy, Kraft’s job was to uncover the wounds of war that a surgeon would never see. She put away thoughts of her children back home, acclimated to the sound of incoming rockets and learned how to listen to the most traumatic stories a war zone has to offer. Her book RULE NUMBER TWO is a firsthand account of providing comfort amid the chaos of war and what it takes to endure. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. David Flaherty)
